Reflection

The boldest move to express someone’s feelings and reveal their thoughts is by writing. Writing gives an enormous power to directly link our hearts to paper. So many people over the ages wrote for literature and poem, for government and politics, for the country and for mathematics. And lastly for the sciences, one of the most important aspects of the world and life itself. How did I relate all my thought processes to science and writing throughout the class?

Donnie Darko

The name of the movie suggests a very super-hero like person to be the main character and when

asked by his fellow classmate and girlfriend about his name he answered,’what makes you think I am not?’. The main character of this psychological drama and science fiction is Donnie Darko is a mysterious high school teenager who is extremely smart and talented but not absolutely normal. A scene from the movie describes a small road close to an old lady’s house. Donnie and his dad drive by after school and stop immediately when they see grandma death standing in front of the mailbox. Donnie gets out and tells her maybe she will get a mail later when she whispers in his ear something mysterious. It is an interesting scene planted amidst the other confusing and mysterious scenes.

‘The Inception’ is a movie similar to Donnie Darko because a lot of things happen in and out of time where many scenes are confusing and takes the audience back and forth. The main character of the inception takes more support of scientific data and the scientific world whereas Donnie Darko is more psychological and thrilling.

Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind: extra credit.

‘How happy is the vestal’s lot, the world forgetting by the world forgot, eternal sunshine of the spotless mind each pray’r accepted and each wish resigned’. ‘Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind’, A romantic film with a hint of science fiction was directed by Michel Gondry in 2004. This movie is about two simple people who are very different, the man, Joel Barish who is very quiet and boring and the girl, Clementine who is lively and spirited.

These two characters meet on their way to Montauk in a cold morning and eventually the girl approaches to talk. They become friends and Joel starts to like her company. Time goes by and he surrounds his life in her dreams when he goes to meet Clementine on valentines and realizes that she does not remember him anymore.

The story takes place in the realm of fantasy and science fiction because it uses technology to erase the memory of the girl. Joel gets a letter from the doctor who helps clementine to erase her memory and finds a lot of information in the process. He decides to do it to himself because he can not live without her.

The movie flashes back to many incidents and dialogues that are significant to the change that takes place throughout and during the erasing of their memory. The most striking fact is that Joel struggles with the erasing and tries to hold onto Clementine so that the doctor can not erase her but all these go on in his sleep, inside his brain. The procedure only helps to remove painful memories but it keeps the patient’s basic tendencies alive which in most cases leads to repeat history. In the movie two cases, one of Joel and Clementine and another of the doctor himself and his receptionist shows that they repeated their love stories in a different way, without realizing that they have been together before. It leaves a hollow feeling in the people but they fail to distinguish amongst what happened and what can happen. When history repeats itself it can either be exactly the same things that happened or a new beginning.

The movie relates on the scientific side in a very unusual and awestruck manner because it plays with the brain and its ability to do wonders. Forgetting a person and being destined to meet the same person again to possibly correct the past without the brain getting any hint at all. It is after all sunshine in the spotless mind, the brain being spotless of any past, acquaintances, and history of a person’s own life.

Empathy and pro-social behavior in Rats.

Mammals generally have the attributes of helping the same species. To prove that, a small experiment was carried out in rodents.

First, two rats were placed were placed together. One in a cage and another free. The one that was free opened up the cage for the other one.

Similarly, a piece of chocolate was put in the restrainer which the rat shared with the other rat despite it being free and holding the ability to have it by himself. they showed the same results in both cases. iudiscoveryo

Do you think we should be allowed to edit your genes? if so, what would you change?

shutterstock103017107

I think we should be allowed to edit certain types of genes only. If we get a chance to edit it now, without misusing our natural components, I think it would be fine. I would like to change my hair type and make it a little more sleek and shiny. Also, my math skills and because I a bad at it. If i advance my genes to edit this it would make sense because both of my parents were good at math.

And the new President is..

Donald Trump.

NO!

How did this happen when the majority of people voted for Hilary? Majority votes do not count for your information. The electoral votes do. So many new things to gulp in everyday, no?

Donald Trump could be a very highly motivated businessman but as a president of the United States? It is a huge thing to take in because according to me, he is not the appropriate person to run this diverse platform in the government. His approach towards presidency is incorrect and his remarks are unbelievable. It is worrying and sad to think about the things he stated he will be doing such as discriminating against Muslims, throwing immigrants out, etc. America is build on immigrants and freedom. We cannot lose anymore compared to what we have lost already. America is not great anymore. Presidency_1011.jpg

A time I was wrong

All the time!

If I think about one incident, once I was sure that I would do great being a science major and pull off the math. Of course, nothing is impossible and undo able but, math is not for me. This is a huge thing thing I have been wrong for but There is always room for error and fixing. I really hope what I intended to do next pays off.
